1. Seasonal rental vs. Long-term rental |
| Are you thinking about renting your investment property on a short-term or seasonal basis? Or are you more inclined to rent it on a long-term lease to a tenant. These are important questions to ask before shopping for your investment property, as some parts of the lake restrict property use. This information can be found at the county court houses, or may be available on the county websites, see the links on the “SML Area Info” page of this site. |

2. Marketability of the property |
| How marketable is the property for the type of renting you want to do? For example, is it easy to get to, does it offer amenities renters will want, is it located on a part of the lake that is conducive to different activities? All are important when thinking about return on investment with a property. |

| Will you be offering your property for rent through a rental agency? There are advantages, and disadvantages to this. They have a large client base to offer your property to, however they charge for their services. Most agencies charge a minimal fee for the service they provide, and there are usually different levels of service to choose from. Research these prior to your purchase to help figure your income/cost ratio. |
